How do I transfer my programs to another computer? There are a couple of issues here. Firstly you will need the original disks or CD to load the program onto the new system. The data you create can be copied over easily, but Windows needs the program to be reinstalled. There are some programs that can be copied onto another system and still run properly, but not many. Secondly, there is the license issue of whether the program can be legally copied to another system. OEM (Original Equipment Manufacture) is normally intended for the system it is sold with and not permitted to be copied to another system. Retail software off the shelf, is often permitted to be copied to another system if it removed from the previous system, and only used on one system. Updated: 15-04-2010 |
