My virus software is about to expire

What does this mean?

Commercial virus software has a subscription period, normally renewed yearly, but can have two or three year subscriptions.

The subscription allows unlimited downloads / updates to your virus software to keep it up to date. Virus companies are evaluating virus threats 24/7 around the clock, and their detection rules and fixes are bundled in your daily updates.

If you don't renew your subscription you won't get these new detection rules, and may leave your system vulnerable to getting infected with new viruses / spyware.
